Hi everybody.

I hope things are going well for you all. Perhaps you could share their opinion about my question, especially those who are already gone through the process of applications.

I have already taken 11 units of English courses. Why eleven? I took a standard English composition course abroad worth 6 units (on semester system) and a 5 unit English Literature course back at my home university (quarter system). So here is my query: In your respected opinions, do you think I NEED additional English units?

I know the answer varies by medical school. I am just concerned about what the general is for most schools. Additionally, I have taken a Humanities Literature (4 units) course, which I am unsure will serve as English substitute. The course was basically an English course as all we did was read books and write papers. Might that course also be considered as English units?

One-thousand thanks.

I have an equally confusing problem with the English classes and I have talked to several schools and most seem to be fairly mellow about the English thing. I must say that UC-Davis was very anal over the phone when I called to ask about it but I have heard that they don't look that closely when you actually apply. I was told by UCLA that I might need to get a letter from the dean explaining how a course I took on Native American literature, that was not labeled "English" on my transcript, was indeed a writing and lit course. It sounds to me like you have enough but I would check the requirements of the schools you really want to attend and maybe call or email them to be safe. Good luck.
