Sup. I just got dropped from all my classses and they're all full now, lawl. If I get accepted into medschool do I even need to get my bachelors in bio? I'm asking this b/c I'm going to be so far behind now ;/

Why did you get dropped from your classes?

Some schools only require a certain amount of credit hours reached, most request that you complete your degree before you matriculate.

In my opinion, the only people who get into medical school without completing a bachelor's degree are those admitted right out of HS into the bachelors/MD programs where they go to medical school after 2 or 3 yrs of college and are awarded the bachelors after a year or two of medical school. I guess the other situation would be people who earn a Pharm.D. in place of a bachelors.

You apply to medical school when you are ready. If you are going to be in college on the 5 year plan or have a gap year (or a gap semester), so be it. Either register for classes that meet your gen ed requirements or take the semester off for an intensive work/volunteer experience. Don't just sit there -- do something!

Really? Who doesn't?

Yes, most acceptances are "conditional upon completion of your undergraduate degree program," especially as reported on AMCAS. You need to have a bachelor's degree. Schools can rescind an acceptance because of an inadequate performance in your final senior semester, and certainly have the power to do so if you don't graduate.

Jeezus kid, get your act together. This doesn't bode well for upcoming application season.

yeah theyre really strict about this. Long story short, I was overloaded on credit hours but really wanted to take an elective for personal reasons. The deans office wouldnt let me overload to 23 hours for an elective, so I thought I might be able to take the elective instead of a requirement, and then I could take my requirement in the first summer session and still graduate before matriculation. I asked a few adcoms, but they all told me in order to keep an acceptance i had to graduate in May of the year before matriculation. Good luck.
