My new MCAT score is C/P 128/CARS 124/BS 126/Psych 125 Overall of 503/27 on the old scale
My GPA is 3.4 and I have pretty good ECs, I'm an ESL student so the low CARS score...
Im not looking to get into top tier DO schools like MSU
knowing all that, do I still need to retake MCAT to have a shot at DO schools?
thanks

I don't think a retake will be necessary. And since we're all still a little uncomfortable with the new scoring scale, I'll point out that a 503 is the same as a 27, which has -- historically -- been a good score for DO admissions. You're right around the average for most schools.

that's what I think too but the 125 in psych bothers me a bit haha

Do NOT retake and apply broadly!!

I would trust Goro's opinion on anything related to your application. If anything, if you need to reapply, I would focus on improving your GPA, since both DO and MD prefer to see 3.5+, and AACOMAS allows you to replace sub-par grades.

Roll with what you got, that's a solid score and and decent enough GPA to grab you some interviews. As long as ECs are good I think you are set.

I have seen dudes with similar stats rolling in IIs. As long as other parts of your application are strong, you'll be fine.

your comment made my day Goro, thank you! but would you still recommend me not to retake if I'm a Canadian?

I'm Canadian unfortunately, that's why I'm not sure if a retake is required for me

If you're Canadian, that significantly changes things. However, maybe Goro can give more input now that you're considered an international applicant.

I have seen Canadians with similar or even lower stats get into DO schools, but I agree that being a canadian requires me to have higher stats

It also would have been better to apply early as an international applicant, but let's see what other people say.

There are at lest 14 DO schools that accept internationals. I don't have my list handy and my school requires the green card.

But start your list with MSUCOM.

I do have the list of Canadian friendly schools, but I'm wondering if my MCAT score is okay for DO knowing that I'm not an american citizen.
