I took a look at Princeton review bio and it convered alot more than kaplan. It had a lot more details..do i need to go over the TPR bio or is Kaplan enough?
im taking the test in 4 weeks..

Any suggestions appreciated..

Usually they say the logic is like this.

Kaplan > Examkrackers
Kaplan > Princeton Review

Examkrackers + Princeton Review >>>>>>>>>> Kaplan.

That's about it.

Examkrackers has the verbal and biology basics. Princeton has the tougher sciences material and more detailed biology stuff. Kaplan has the best general coverage of everything, but lacks the detail that TBR and Examkrackers have put together.

So if you have time, get both EK and Princeton Review. If you don't have any more time, then Kaplan is enough to get your score in the 30s range.

I don't really think Kaplan is "too general" -- for me, for example, the Bio is more than detailed enough. Although alot of innate knowledge is required for the MCAT, I think Kaplan is pretty comprehensive.

I cannot speak to EK & TPR's review materials, I am just saying I don't think Kaplan "lacks detail"

Other people's views?

i didnt really like the kaplan book as a whole, but it did cover what was necessary to know. I was reading bio one day and my friend brough her EK bio book, which went into super detail about stuff not even mentioned in the Kaplan book....it was kind of off setting at first, but i never saw anything on the real deal that i didnt see in the kaplan bio review, so clearly the EK book went in to too much detial.

If you think EK Bio goes into way too much detail, wait until you see TPR Biological Sciences Review book. It's actually as detailed as my Campbell Biology textbook. It's super annoying.

haha. well i'm glad i stuck with kaplan then. and more importantly, i'm glad i never have to worry about the MCAT again!!!!

The best thing to supplement your bio review book with is an incredible amount of practice. I did soooo much practice that around the culmination of my preparation I was hoping to see things that I did not know in the full lentghs I took, I wanted to get things wrong and was convinced it was the only way I could get better. The details I learned from practicing is incredible. The only "mainstream" MCAT material I didn't utilize was BR.

I envy you. What did you get on the real deal?

28R With a 9PS 9VR and 10 BS. Most people would be unhappy with this score, but I am more than satisfied and I worked hard for it. It was higher than any of my practice AAMCs, but does represent my upward trend. On my my AAMCs i scored every score between 23-27, with a steady upward increase. My last test before the real deal was a 27 and i felt very confident going in that if i stayed focused i could get a similar score, and i did. I received my highest AAMC score in each of the sections.

You can check out the schools i am applying to, but my stats and ECs leave me competitive enough to apply to MD and very competitive for DO. Aim for a score and do your best to acheive it. Don't let anybody else tell you its not good enough. if you are satisifed, then thats all that matters. good luck.
