Do I really need to take weeks or months to review my personal statement?

I basically didn't work on it at all these last few months and spent time preparing for the dat. I ended up getting 22AA and 21 PAT which I was pleased with. Online sources led me to believe that this score was at or above the average for admitted students at almost all the schools. GPA is good as well sitting at 3.74 cum. So now that I have got that done I am ready to end this whole process and wait for interviews. One problem though, I don't have my personal statement ready. I was going to write it tonight and tomorrow and edit it tomorrow with my parent's and boyfriend's help and then just send it in by thursday at the latest. Did anyone else do it this way?

Also, I am going to call tomorrow and ask but can I submit my unofficial grade report before I have my personal statement and the total application complete? I was afraid of submitting because I didn't have that stuff done and I wasn't sure if I needed all my pieces. It seemed like you couldn't submit individual sections of things (like your unoffical self-reported transcript info).

Do you think my timing is going to significantly hurt me?

Also, is it necessary to completely ignore the finanical motivation for pursuing dentistry?

Weeks or months is overkill.

Personal statement is needed to submit period. In order to be verified and subsequently mailed, you're going to need to submit official transcripts. You self-report your grades but they are verified with your official transcripts before mailing.

You're a little late to the party but your stats are likely solid enough IMO if you wish to apply, the decision is yours.

No not at all, but it all depends on your writing skills and if you have a good story to tell. My wife writes professionally and I finished mine in about a week with her proofreading and making suggestions. Just be confident and get good proofreaders and you should be golden. I would stay away from the financial thing, they don't like it but lets be honest no one is going into this much debt without making sure it's a lucrative career.

Well ok see your response left me confused in the same way all the stuff on the app has. My official transcripts should already be with aadsas or they will be with them soon. I have all my grades entered on my app but I haven't actually "submitted" anything officially, I think? Or am I wrong and they will begin doing the grade comparing and processing against what I have already entered once they have my official transcripts in order?

They won't do anything until you pay them (aka submit). Otherwise they're working for free, AND your app is still available to edit until submitted. No need to check grades you entered against transcripts if you can still go in and change the grades. So...submit. Don't put too much stress on PS. Make it not suck.

Ah okay, you didn't say that haha. You need to enter your personal statement to submit. Once you actually submit and pay, your official transcripts will be compared to what you self-reported in order to be "verified." Following verification, you application will be finally "mailed."

Thank you. That clarified everything and was what I originally assumed needed to happen as well.
