Do I really need to use HY molecular biology as per Taus method for the USMLE now?

Taus method strongly suggests using HY molecular bio in addition to FA.

I looked at it and I find a lot of the stuff in there to be quite esoteric. Plus I assume that FA has changed in the ten or so years that Taus method has been out. So is the Taus method outdated now, and is HY molecular bio no longer relevant for FA study?

To those who have aced step 1: what did you use to prepare for molecular bio?

Toss method is not outdated per se, but the available resources have changed quite a bit. Look up "new taus method". Someone on SDN posted it. I believe it's a variant of Taus method including new sources

HY molecular bio outlines the VERY BASIC fundamentals of the basic science in medicine. Unless you are very weak in areas such as DNA replication, Protein Translation, etc and need it spelled out for you, I would not recommend using it. I bought it and it is gathering dust on my shelf right now.
