Undergrad oGPA = 2.42
Undergrad SGPA = 2.40

Graduate oGPA and sGPA = 3.84

Graduate school (masters in bacteriology) still in progress 1 year left but my first year finished with 28 semester credits was a 3.84, half A's and half A-'s.

DAT

Bio-24 Ochem-25 Gchem-24 TS: 24
PAT-25 Math - 24 RC- 22 AA: 24

Did have a major life impacting/changing experience that lasted 2.5 years in undergrad, almost had an arranged marriage with someone thousands of miles away, which i was somewhat hesitant against, long story but I am sure you can get the jist of how that could impact a person especially when trying to start and keep communication through skype/aim/msn etc.

Additionally trying to pick up after that GPA especially when its shot down so hard was difficult.

Think i have any chance this cycle???

I don't see why your DAT scores wouldn't get you enough attention to have a shot. Definitely worth applying, maybe call some schools to find out if you would be considered or dismissed immediately with your gpa - goodluck!

The dental schools will be most impressed by your recent accomplishments. Just do it.

Apply and see if god lets you in.

How did you get into grad school with a 2.4 GPA?

Anyways, your grad GPA and DAT looks great. I would contact each school that you are applying to and ask them just to make sure that your application won't get thrown out simply because your undergrad GPA didn't make the cut.

Thanks guys, You have given me some faith. How did I get into grad school with a 2.4? Haha lets just say I ran up 1300 minutes in 1 month calling many schools and talking to many professors to take me under and trying to get them to trust/believe in me. Not to mention another like 20 hours emailing. I got rejected by 45+ professors cuz no one wanted to believe in me and said I basically sucked a**. And then i got 2 professors that did like me and what not so it was nice to have a choice to choose on my thesis and what not, but yea. I have gotten enough rejection from masters alone, my stats have improved a good amount so it cant get worse than that at least haha.

Additionally, do you guys think I have any other option for my GPA? I mean I could literally do like 5 years of more school than I still would only have a 3.0 after 5 years of 3.6+. So do you guys think I would sincerely have a shot? According to dental school advising people I called, they all sounded impressed but said they couldn't tell me if I was competitive or have a good chance, is that a legal/technical thing?

You've overcome many obstacles and I think your commitment definitely shows. It is worth to apply and see if the opportunity presents itself. From the looks of it, you did some major slacking but somewhere between your undergrad and grad you got your head back on straight. Good luck.

i think you have a great chance dude!

people all make mistakes, so it's all about learning and improving, which is something you definitely did!
