hi guys
I have been a silent reader of this forum and the inputs are really helpful.

This will be the first time i will applying for IDP for the 2013 cycle so i am really nervous.

My NBDE part 1 is 88 , not given part 2, will be giving TEOFL in April 2012 ( as my scores expired, its been more than 2 years),GPA is 2.62, have 6 years of clinical experience back home as a senior associate dentist, have 6 months of DA experience in the USA, have completed certificate course in dental office management.

I do not have any research experience.

I am not sure if i stand a chance of getting into IDP,pls advise.I am hoping to apply to UIC,UOP,BU,UPENN,USC,UCSF.
Which are the other schools i can try and stand a chance?

appreciate it,
thanks

pls guys i need some feedback ..pls help.

you have a good resume , good part 1 score (there are a lot of international dentists who got accepted in IDP programs with less score in part 1), good back home experience ...BUT of course there is nothing of sure as I knew a lot of people with higher scores but have been rejected , it is better for you if you take part 2 as a lot of schools will prefer if you have already taken it ..
you have a good chance, go on and do your best in TOEFL , interviews and bench tests
with all the wishes

thanks a ton for the encouragement.
I was also planning to give nbde2 but since I need atleast 3 months to study and the Caapid cycle is starting on 14th April,I wanted to know if I can submit the nbde2 scores later to caapid?
will there be any issues?
thanks again

of course you can update your status with CAAPID whenever you want so , same thing for any school you will apply for out of CAAPID , so go ahead start studying for part 2 , give it as soon as you can and then update your status (in CAAPID ) with your part 2 score .
although CAAPID cycle will start in April but the dead line for most of the schools will be late so you will have enough time to give part 2 and apply for them ....

Yes, you do stand a chance!!! Like everybody else does!!!
Beginning in 2012 NBDE scores will be just Pass/Failed, meaning that high or low NBDE scores won't be as critical as they used to be .... So, it will be really difficult to predict acceptance/ rejection patterns.
Just work as hard as you can on your application.
Best of luck!!

if i have already submitted my caapid application without the part 2 scores, wont the schools start processing my application based on my stats? or the schools start processing the applications after the deadline is achieved and thy have received all applications? im a little confused 🙁

usually the schools let you update your application aany time you want so But it should be done before their assigned dead line and they will consider your update ..
I reviewd the schools available for the CAAPID cycle for 2012 -2013 , the earliest dead line is july 1st , so if you give your part 2 early in may you will have enough time to update ypour application before the deadlines , also most of the dead lines for the dental schools in CAAPID are later than july..review this link and review the dead lines for the schools so you can get better idea:
