Hi I am currently 22 years old and a recent graduate from a highly respected EMT school in the state of Georgia finishing with a GPA 3.31 with good standings. I am highly interested into becoming a pharmacist and continuing my education.

A little history about myself is that I didn't do so hot in highschool with my GPA or SAT scores. Biology, Math, and Chemistry have always been my strong point and I highly enjoy learning these subjects on my own time outside of class.

Now the real question is, do I even stand a chance in Pharmacy school? I understand it's really competitive and tough to get into and would hate to waste 2 years just trying to get into the program when I could easily become a Paramedic by then. My plans are continuing my career as an Emt for 6 years while going through the Pharmacy program.

Sorry for the long post but any suggestions would be helpful.

I have no idea what EMT schools teach you, but if they taught you biology, math and chemistry, and you got a 3.31 coming outta the school, then I think you're prepared to take on pharmacy school at one time or another.

High school and college are two different animals.

If you already gotten your emt you must have had some sciences. And with your gpa, I don't see why not. You don't know until you try the subjects. That's just my .2 cents.

I know EMT is flexible but I'm still not sure that it can be done while during pharmacy school. You'll be in class ~7 hours/day and will need to do required intern hours during this time also. Factor in study time and it's going to be difficult. You could probably do EMT while taking your undergrad courses though.

Well it all depends what schools you are applying to and when you are trying to apply. You have a decent GPA, but its not the most competitive to be honest so applying early should be taken into consideration. Also, some pharm schools take into consideration if you have taken high level science classes like Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Immunology because these are the same classes you will be taking in pharmacy school.
