Hi guys,
I'm applying for Maryland as an OOS applicant along with several other state schools. If I still haven't heard anything (i.e. secondary, invitation for an interview etc) from those schools as of today 01/19/2010 , do I still hope? :scared: Am I already in the rejection pile waiting to be rejected?

If I were you, I'd call..but that's me.

I would call each school to make sure that your application is complete. I had some issues with some schools unable to access my DAT scores. Of course, they did not tell me about it till I called to inquire about my application status.

Look on the bright side, if they still haven't rejected you, you still have a chance.

and say what? do i suck at life. i dont know what to say, im in the same boat.

Simple thing as "I am sorry to bother you but is there anyway I can check the status of my application?"

I know it's stressful (I was a reapplicant so I have been there) but you just have to do what you can do and do everything that you can do.

I am not trying to sound negative, but you should also start looking for a way to make an improvement. The reason I am saying this is, if you want to consider masters or post-bach, they do have deadline for their applications and also requirements such as Letters of Recommendations. Therefore, waiting until May and deciding that you want to do something in order to improve your application would be little too late (many of Maters programs have deadlines set around March)

thanks guys.

I just called Maryland and they said my application is under review, a very lame answer! I could have looked it up myself off of the ADEA website, sigh!

The problem is that I don't really know what else I can do to improve my appl. I've just completed my M.S. in the summer! I start to believe having a master is useless!

Wow, very nice lol. Do you suck at life? No I was suggesting you call because of my past experience. Express to them your concern since they have likely filled their class and reinforce your interest in their program.

Two different schools this cycle that I was "under review" at were changed after I made the call. I wanted to know what was up? Not saying I deserve an interview, but I would like to know what is going on regardless of my GPA/DAT. The next day, I had an interview invite at both schools. I'm not exaggerating.

This is your life, you hard work (grades, GPA, ECs). They have a lot of applicants and many of which are no longer interested in their program.

That is awesome. Seriously, don't be afraid to speak to these people. They understand that this is a stressful time and will help you as much as they can. Not calling will get you nowhere. You have nothing to lose. And this is a message to everyone!

If Scott Brown can be elected in the most liberal state in the union, you can get in to dental school.

I have to second that. I sent an email of interest to my first choice school at the end of last week and got an interview 4 days later. It's definitely worth a shot.

What did you expect them to say? An M.S. may help but it is not a guarantee of admission and, who knows, it might come in handy in the future if it is a marketable degree.

Ha! I was in the same boat until just a few weeks ago..thinking "WHY Hasnt Maryland (of all schools) invited me for an interview??" My AADSAS has said " Completed/under review" for the longest time too (& in fact still does) even though I finally got an email invite a couple weeks ago!
So hang in there...& dont give up hope. Because if any school planned on rejecting you - they wouldve done it by now for sure. So ur def being considered. 😉 And hey - you gotta condsider, many oos'ers that do get accepted often let high tuition costs of attending MD sway them to other schools or their in-state school...and they also have a pretty large class size (130 - i think).
