Hi guys, my current long-term partner is in DO school and seeing their experiences with the curriculum and even OMM practice has been a large influence for why I want to pursue osteopathic medicine. Of course I have done my research of what osteopathic medicine looks like in the clinical setting but do not have any DO shadowing hours. My question is, is this a weak connection to mention since it isn't my direct experience??

I think its fine. Being the partner of someone going through this journey and then willingly volunteering to go through it as well is testimony enough for me.

Id try and shadow a DO just to have a letter and be able to talk about something with them.

It's definitely good to mention, ESPECIALLY if you're applying to the school your partner is at.

Okay, thank you, guys! I should be shadowing soon but did not want to delay my DO application even later but might if it means I get to include this direct DO shadowing experince

The DO cycle is longer, so you can apply now and send an update that you shadowed a DO. If you can get a LOR from the DO, even better.
