So applied to MD schools only last cycle and while I did receive a few II's, I didn't recieve an acceptance. I applied more broadly this cycle including MD and DO schools and have fortunately received interviews for schools in both programs. If the DO schools ask about if this is my first cycle applying (or something along the lines of that) how do I go about answering that I applied to only MD schools initially but am now applying to DO since I have a better chance?

Additionally, during my last semester of undergrad I dropped Physics II and received a W on my transcript. I dropped it because I realized my in state med schools (which were the only ones I applied to) did not require it as a pre-req and my time was better focused on research. However, the DO school I am interviewing at requires this Physics II class as a pre-req which I will be taking in the Spring. How would I go about explaining this as well?

Thank you for any help!!

I had multiple F's and something like 6 or 7 W's. I wrote down some reasons why I had those and then practiced verbalizing those reasons to my wife. My intuition says they will not even ask you about the W in an interview, but you never know. I had 3 MD interviews and my poor record was only brought up once. I went to 3 DO interviews as well and they were never brought up.
