I applied to a bunch of schools in October (18 schools). I was on the interview waitlist for 5-6 and havent heard back after secondaries for about 2 school.s

Do interviews even take place post-May?

I kinda just want a rejection letter at least acknowledging I was rejected.

There are so many schools that received my application in November and didn't respond till a week or two ago.

I would probably gear up for the next application season at this point. Apply as early as possible!! Best of luck.

thanks I am applying tonight, does applying early help a significant amount?

Yeah it does! I applied in June, had most of my secondaries done in July and I got into 2 schools (3.48 sGPA 3.58 cGPA 25 MCAT).

Did you apply to top tier schools only?

My stats are wayyy lower than yours 3.3 cgpa, 3.0 sgpa, 26 MCAt might jump up by a point each because I have 3 fresh A's in science classes coming in.

But in general I thought you would pretty much be accepted into LECOMS, burrell, etc etc

Well, in your case, beggars can't be choosers. Your sGPA combined with your MCAT is too low.

You're right. Those with low stats most likely aren't getting into top tier DO schools, applying early or late.

Plan to apply early this cycle, but also think about retaking that MCAT, just in case it is expiring and retaking some courses to boost that GPA.

But the Top tiers are limited in comparison to Low tier. I still think someone with a 3.6 and 3.5 gpa and 25 mcat would have a ton of interviews. if the admissions process has become this difficult I think I will just save myself the money and move onto better things I can do with my time and stats.

Top tier is basically a 3.6 cGPA, 3.5 sGPA and 29.5 MCAT average. You have to be around there to have a shot of getting in. There are many more applicants with better stats than they can offer interviews for. With a low sGPA, many schools (even some new ones) already automatically screen you out. Unless you have some amazing EC that they can overlook your sGPA deficiency, the chances are slim.

CUSOM requires even a 3.2 sGPA to even get an interview.

So yes, apply to all the newer schools, because they're even kind of a reach/ in line with your stats. Retake some science courses and bring it up.

Ah understood, Thanks. yeah I am working on the MCAT but coming from an engineering major I have had a tough time with the Psychology section since I never took it before. In January I pulled off a 127, 127,127, but a 122 psych section.

I am working on science classes as much as I can and can afford but at a certain point I will just leave the application process for schools because a sGPA from an engineering major with required advance versions of intro physics and chemistry doesnt = most regular science classes in science GPA.

I would retake classes if you want to get into more established schools. With a 26 you'll need like 3.5+ to get a slim shot at upper places. Being from New England, if you retake your sciences classes and get around 3.4-3.5 you can apply to UNECOM and have a decent shot. If you wanna get in now take the newer schools and run with them.

Any that won't screen you out. You might get lucky but you're going to want a wide net. Personally for me outside of coastal touros, RVU, and AZCOM/CCOM I would apply to all. The extra money now is worth it.

Oh ya and don't apply to osu or Ohio

I know the psych is low but that score is still equal to an old 27 which would make you competitive for a lot more places.

Being an engineer, they will see that and could give you more wiggle room as long as you can get up to 3.25 for the cutoffs

Yes, unfortunately this is what happens in the application process. Although it is holistic, they still have automated screening below a certain GPA.

However, you have the potential of getting into a school, especially with the list provided above. I would apply to them but also plan on retaking some courses to bring the GPA up.

Applied to Burrel, Acom, KYCOM, LECOM, VCOM, LMU, and Marian. No luck with any unfortunately lol.

I never heard back from KYCOM, ACOM, or LECOM after secondaries. VCOM received my application in November and basically never responded, then rejected me last week with an email saying we want a 24 MCAT or higher rofl.

If you can bring that psychology section up to even a 125 (50th percentile-ish) you would have a solid MCAT score (506; 28 on the old MCAT.) Just from reading on here, I feel like a 506 even with your low sGPA might get you a few interviews.

Just from the studying experience I've had, I feel like the psychology section is straight memorization of vocab and a few people. As long a you can apply the vocab, you're good!

The percentiles for the new mcat have been updated! I'm pretty sure a 506 is higher than a 28 now, I think it's creeping around 29. But I agree with everything else you've said. OP could definitely get a few interviews by bringing up their gpa or mcat. I feel it would be smarter to retake low grades and just increase the sgpa and cgpa!

Thanks, My Grades are Alot of straight B's and I would love to go back and take those classes but my undergraduate school is quarter specific so its hard to get the classes I want, its expensive, and I was getting B-'s for classes I was rank 6/50 in.

506 is now a solid 29.
