Come join the fun

Who else is doing it on their own? What are you plans? I'm planning on doing the prereqs on my own then maybe going for an SMP program since I'm a member of the GPA under 3.0 group 😎

Anyone have advice? stories? Share your thoughts!!!!

I'll join. I am in the under 3.0 club too! I am not sure what classes I am going to start with. I had a plan, but too much time on SDN and other sites and I am in post-bacc overload! 😛

I think I will sort things out at the DC Non-trad conference....

i'll join too. 🙂 my cumulative gpa is 3.1, but my science gpa is murky...a 2.7 i think. i work full time at a university, and get one course a semester paid for, so in the past year i have taken chem I and physics I over again (i got a C and D the first time around) and got A's in both this time (same university too!) I hope to take another year of courses and then apply to SMP programs next spring/summer.

OOHHH i will see you there. 🙂

And for your plan, take your time and figure it out. I have had many "plans" but finally found one to fit for me. What questions do you have?

does your university replace them?

I got a B- in chem and I think i'm going to just let it slide b/c i don't have time to retake, plus i had extensive classes in chem in my short stint as a chem major in college 😀 That is a good plan though!

no my university (go heels!) doesn't replace them, but i figured 1) they will average out on AMCAS 2) i needed to understand what was going to be on the mcat and 3) i needed to prove to myself and (hopefully) an admissions committee that i can do the work, hopefully to get in an SMP, and then do the work there! we shall see! i plan to take second semester physics this summer and then biochem in the fall (i got a C in that in undergrad too) i was a chem and anth double major, and my chem classes were a little bit of everything, so i'm trying to 'repair' the ones most significant to medicine. ironically, i always did very well in my inorganic classes. oh well.

i got a B- and B in orgo I and II respectively, but I'm just going to leave those alone. not enough time.
