do Kaplan flashcards help?

Hey i was wondering if any of you guys think the Kaplan flashcards really help, or are they just a waste of time?

i dont think u should really use them to study material. but i think they are something u can just carry around with u to keep the content fresh in your mind. just look at them when ever ur waiting in line, or takin a dump :meanie:

I thought the flashcards helped IMMENSELY! Just take, like, four or six hours in one night and you can learn a whole set. Then when you go through them the second or third time, you can use the topics on the flashcards to spark your interest and go find more information on any topic. For instance, if I was studying a notecard about metabolism, I'd get curious and go look in my Biochem book about the different cycles. The notecards in themselves are not enough, but they give you a good direction.

P.S. I'm really not a loser. I have a boy who loves me and I'm in a sorority and drink -- a lot. Please don't think I'm a psycho-studier who never talks to anyone and sleeps with her flashcards under her pillow.

Eh, its useful for memorizing physics formulas and organic reagents.

You might try making flashcards of your own. A lot of the value you get from flashcards comes from the process of actually making them. I think it helps you organize and clarify the material in your mind--you have to really think about what is important when you make flashcards.

I saw students in my test room thumbing through kaplan flashcards before each section too--they looked very nervous!

I also made my own notes in the margins of the Kaplan flashcards. So maybe (again) you could just use the cards as a springboard for more intensive studying.

Yeah, people looked at me like i was crazy because i wasnt reviewing before each section. I thought they were crazy for trying to cram before the section. The only thing that would do would be to make me nervous. Oh right, you said they looked nervous 😉

flash cards are a waste - they make you pay far too much attention to dumb little details.

Why are people picking on me? My roses are not bugged, they are pretty and clean. Where does all this hostility come from? You'd think premeds have enough to stress over already -- now we have to add on worrying about the "coolness" of our SDN icons. Sheesh! Go study for the MCAT or something.

Yeah, I paid almost 1500 bucks for that course, are you telling me they couldn't hire someone to tear my cards apart for me? 😡
