Hi guys,

Could you guys shed some light on what types of things should be included in a DO physician letter. I have yet to get a letter from a professional. I know some DO schools require one.
Any thing other than a regular letter from professors?

Congrats on finding the right section to post this in. There are also tons of threads about this same topic... but whatevs. 🙄

DO physician letters should reflect the time you spent with the doctor. He/she can write about your desire to pursue medicine, how inquisitive and passionate you are (by the types of questions you ask about medicine and things specific to his practice), etc. Just try to relate to the physician... let him know stuff about you (like your volunteerwork, clinical experiences, philosophies, etc.) and also take initiative to learn from the doctor by asking him what HIS philosophies are, how he decided to specialize in whatever he's doing, etc.

For teachers... it's just a regular LOR. They will know what to write... but it helps if you give them a copy of your CV or resume so they are familiar with your volunteer work and other ECs as well.
