If I'm submitting a committee letter through my school, would a LOR from a DO still be required? My adviser hasn't mentioned it being required.
 
It depends on the schools you're applying to, so look at the specific requirements for each.

Your school's committee will include all your LORs in the committee composite letter.



P.S. It's very likely that your advisor either doesn't know much about applying to med school or knows outdated information.
 
J Senpai is right. This is a great free resource that AACOM provides in terms of information. It has LOR information for most schools. For the ones that don't have the info, simply search their website.
 
You can almost bet every medical school will require a LOR from either an MD or a DO, some are exclusive to DO LOR only in order to fulfill their physician letter requirement.
