Lowest step 1 score from an AOA member at my school that I've heard was like 239.

<225 people are forcefully chained to peds/family med/mid-low tier IM/psych/pm&r.

Or, lucky match into gen surg in the middle of western Iowa.

Friend of mine made AOA, but has <220 step 1 score. Step scores don't factor into AOA at his school (US MD). He did really well years 1-2 which do factor in though.

Pretty sure most don't

Scholastic achievement, beyond the "upper quartile" of the class, is defined by the school. My school and several schools who more publicly discuss their criteria online consider Step 1 score. I'd say most schools don't publish their detailed list of criteria, so it's really hard to tell if most do or do not consider Step 1 at all. Hence the question marks.

Personally, outside of test anxiety, it sort of blows my mind how this happens.

Over the last few months I've learned that Step 1 is mostly about how much time you put in and very little about how smart you are. Someone with AOA obviously has pretty good time management skills and they know how to work hard. I imagine this would translate to Step 1, but for whatever reason that's not always the case.

looks like the human equivalent of greatness

Wow, finally a positive post from you!!!

And some people prefer living in Iowa .... believe it or not

P.S. it looks like we have the same taste in women. Good thing my step score is above average
Lol bruh
