Do Medical Schools Look at SDN Forums?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Because we are on the topic of this and social media, guys I want to know if having a social networking account is important. I have a facebook account which I barely use but in the past I have been tagged in photos I don't want to be in. As a result I have thought about getting rid of it completely, does it hurt if I am not involved in social networking at all?

No, not having a facebook page, or any other site, won't hurt you. Being tagged in photos that make you appear less-than-desirable might. If you don't care about the account, better to delete it.

Yes, it has happened before and will happen again but, of course, is statistically improbable.

Remember, remember the rescindment of November.

yeah... can't believe its already been 6 years

Do they only monitor the school specific forums or do they take the time to try and identify someone based on experiences/stories posted? Should we assume that as long as we don't use our name we won't incriminate ourselves?

P.S I posted that I was allowed to take vitals by myself at a clinic I was shadowing at to see if it was okay. I wouldn't want to be singled out for something I didn't know was unethical.

No one is going to take the time to try and piece together who you are in the absence of extremely concerning issues that you might share. However, as I mentioned in another thread, it's easier to identify people than they likely think. The ability to see a person's posting history over the course of years (potentially) makes anonymity difficult unless you're extremely careful about revealing personal information.

You really only have to worry about it if you're grossly unprofessional on the forums. You're fine 😉

Taking vitals is always ethical. 😎
