I would apply DO, but also prepare for a possible MCAT retake. From what I have seen, your MCAT is below average for DO, but not hopeless. Your GPA and the rest of your application should be good to go for DO schools. See how things are going in a couple months and if you haven't gotten any interviews, maybe consider an MCAT prep class and a retake. With a higher MCAT, you would be very competitive for DO schools.

MCAT 24 7/9/8
Planning to apply to state school OUCOM this round, possibly MSUCOM. Wish my MCAT was higher, but had a lot of stress when I was studying (sick family member, best friend had baby born at 28 weeks gestation).

Thoughts?

Ummm you probably already know but MSUCOM has VERY high out of state tuition and they also prefer in state students. So I would definitely pick out at least 4 more schools. Your in state school OSUCOM looks like a very good choice, and may possibly overlook your low MCAT. However, a retake with a higher score 26/+ would only strengthen your application. Your GPA and extracurricular activities look very strong.

Go with some of the other state schools if that's attractive to you, MSU's OOS tuition is the highest among DO schools... ~70k!
