I know that some schools have DO/PhD options while others don't -- does anyone know if these are equivalent to allopathic MSTP programs, or if the general time table and funding for DO/PhD programs are done differently? Thank you.

Michigan State is very similar, and probably the best DO/PhD program out there. The funding is not quite as good as MSTP, but about the same as other nonMSTP programs. The financial package is most of your tuition fees, health insurance, and ~$20k/year. Your out of pocket cost comes to between $8k-$10k depending on the year in the program. The timetable is the same, but you can finish it quite a bit quicker if you already have a masters degree in a related field. There are 100s of labs to choose from. PM me if you have specific questions...I've interviewed with the director of hte program.

Thank you, stonewall. Are you applying this year? I just visited MSU's website and the DO/PhD sites of some of the other schools and it looks like I'll need 2 additional LOR's, and I also haven't taken the GRE, so if I do apply it would have to be for next cycle. My MCAT probably isn't high enough either, although I do plan on retaking in January. Looks like a great option, though and if you are applying best of luck to you and please keep us updated on your progress. 👍

I am applying, not sure if that's what I want to do yet...or actually, more accurately stated, I know what I want, but I'm not sure my wife is up to 7 more years of school before even starting a residency. 🙂

VCOM has a DO/PhD program in Public Health... It's a 5 year program.
