I was curious to know how competitive occupational, preventative, and PMR are in the DO field? Are there a lot of DO residencies in these, about what score do they look for on the comlex 1? I have been trying to gather information, but seems very vague in these three fields.

I have learned from a different post that these specialities offer decent residency programs that provide 9-5 work, no calls, no weekends. I would really like to have my own time with my family too rather than just be at work constantly such as other fields. Please let me know any information you can about these fields, including salaries. Thank you!

I'm fairly certain physiatry (PM&R) residents must be on call from time to time since part of their training involves managing inpatients.

It is also my understanding that occupational medicine is a fellowship one does upon completing a residency in family medicine, preventive medicine, emergency medicine or physiatry. I could be wrong here.

I never really understood the preventive medicine track or what those graduates do. I imagine it isn't very clinical work, but more along the lines of public health, health policy and public administration. Again, I could be mistaken.

Hope at least some of my babbling was useful to you.
