If you took the MCAT twice...your more recent MCAT being worse than your first by a point...do all the DO schools look at the more recent, or do most of them look at the best out of the two???

depends on the school. Some will take the best score per section. You need to do your research on the schools you applied to. It's easily findable on their websites.

There is a couple replies to various threads mentioning what happens

The short is that it depends on the schools. Many (DMU, PCOMs, LECOM etc) take the highest composite score. OUCOM takes the highests subscores (SWEET) and some take the most recent. I apologize for not knowing what each school does specifically. Call the admissions office of the schools your interested in and they will tell you how they treat them.

The PCOMs take the highest one ? Nice.

Thank you for your help.

If anyone knows anymore schools whether they take the most recent only or the best, please let me know.

If you have multiple mcat scores VCOM takes the highest score from each section. I actually was on the phone with them today for another reason and figured I'd ask.

Anyone else who has called a school regarding this, please post the response.

NOVA anyone?

NYCOM?

Here is a partial list that I compiled from other posts as well...

Schools that take highest composite:
-WVSOM,
LMU,
LECOMs,
CCOM,
PNWU,
RVU,
Western
DMU

Look at all but consider most recent:
-TCOM

Look at most recent:
-AT Still (kirksville and SOMA)

Take Best Subsections and add them:
-VCOM & OUCOM (with OU having that out of state 5 year thing)

I have seen conflicting reports on AZCOM either takes the best or takes the most recent, I would say that they probably are the same as CCOM as they are sister campuses. Also looks like I was wrong as I dont have a source for my PCOM comment above..

Feel free to add to the list
especially PCOM's/NOVA/NYCOM and UMDNJSOM are ones that I couldnt find

Looks like chocolate bear should put together a new list of this and add it to his signature.

Both PCOMs take the best score out of the 2. While they look at all of them, its the best one that counts when it comes down to it apparantly. I think if you go from like a 25 to an 18, then that might raise a red flag with one PCOM they said....the Georgia one I think.

Oklahoma State takes the best one, and same goes for UNECOM.

Not sure about Nova yet.
