Hi All,
I'm a Senior this year in the Honors program at a good East coast univ. I just got my MCAT scores today....27Q 8 Phys 10 Verb and 9 Bio. I have already submitted my AACOM app and submitted my MCAT scores today. I have a 3.31sci gpa and 3.41 overall. I have been a volunteer firefighter for about 5 years in two different departments and an EMT for over a year. I have worked in an ER alongside many physicians (over 500 hours) for around a year and shadowed a few pediatricians for 2 weeks in my sophomore year. I am also community service chair for my fraternity (2.5 years). Just wondering if I have a good shot for a good DO school, even if I am a little late with the MCAT score.... Thanks much.

You have a pretty good shot at DO schools even though your gpa is on the low side. Is your AACOMAS verified? It's getting a little late in the cycle, so you should start pre-writing secondaries and then submit asap after you receive them. Apply broadly and you will have a good chance. Good luck!

No joke, average matriculant at NSU:

MCAT: 27
cGPA: 3.41
sGPA: 3.31

Looks like you're competitive. Good luck.

Everything is verified except for the mcat...and thats funny about NSU haha I guess I am competitive. Thanks for the feedback!!

Your stats and ECs will make you competitive at pretty much all DO schools. But if you still haven't submitted secondaries, you might be running late and that will decrease your chances. Still, you shouldn't overly concern yourself about "OMG, I don't think I can get in to medical schools" because your application itself is solid.

You're fine. Quit fussing and start applying!!
