Hi,
I am very new to student doctor, as well osteopathic medical schools, so please bare with me. If this information is printed somewhere else, please direct me and I'll look else where.
I just graduated from college and know that I definitely want to be a doctor. I'm using this time to strengthen my application and explore all of my options before jumping into something- thats why I'm looking into DO programs. I just attended the AACOM conference in San Francisco for premeds interested in DO programs. I learned alot about the programs and being a DO, although I couldn't get a sense of a difference between programs and the strength of each program. I know that all of them are quality schools, although unlike MD programs, I haven't found a listing of DO programs, just to get a sense of the more competitive ones. Any help would be great.
Thanks! :

This website provide links to the osteopathic schools. Also, US News and World report ranks osteo schools along with allo schools (this greatly influenced my decision). As for a seperate "osteo only" ranking...I am not sure if there is one. Hope this helps!

I think I am more looking for a list of rankings or competitiveness of programs, although the website is very informative, it doesn't include any of that type of information.

MSUCOM average MCAT was 9 and GPA 3.53 for last year's entering class I believe, so I think that info is outdated.

TUCOM wasn't listed in the first list, but it's shown in the second. According to their own website, they were top 3 in terms of incoming classes for 2000, and #1 in 2002.

I actually purchased the US News & World Report online premium thingie... so I can look up a few schools for anyone interested.

According to USN&WR, for fall 2003:

TUCOM, 8.7 MCAT, 3.5 GPA, 15.9% acceptance
KCOM, 8.5 MCAT, 3.53 GPA, 17.9% acceptance
MSUCOM, 8.2 MCAT, 3.55 GPA, 13.1% acceptance
...

Where was MSUCOM ranked in Primary care that year? Thanks

UMDNJ's average MCAT score was 27-28. This claims that it is 24! Maybe its outdated?

It is very outdated. OSU-COM's overage MCAT is around 27-28, and the average GPA is around 3.6.

TUCOM-MI is not even on there (pre-1995).

That list is indeed outdated. For example, it referred to DMU as "University of Osteopathic Medicine & Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine & Surgery" which hasn't been used in quite a while.

Anyway, maybe someone should start a thread titled "There is NO DO school ranking" and make it a sticky so that we can mock any subsequent postings asking for DO rankings (the best/funniest I've seen was the one where someone claimed to be unsuccessful in finding threads about DO school rankings after using the search feature of SDN)
