Hello all! I just submitted my AMCAS application for ~20 schools and I am looking to apply to about 5 DO schools. Are there any suggestions? I am looking to apply to the best/strongest DO programs if possible. Thanks for any help.
  1. 3.65 cGPA, 3.55 sGPA
  2. MCAT 128/128/127/130 --> 513
  3. Virginia Resident
  4. ORM
  5. ~100 hours volunteering at a children's hospital
  6. ~250 hours researching in lab for 1.5 years, poster presentation
  7. ~45 hours shadowing (OB/GYN, gastroenterology, orthopedic surgery, PM&R) over 4 years
  8. ~60 hours volunteering at a local food bank over 1.5 years ~35 hours volunteering at a local school
  9. Gap year: Will be scribing at an orthopedic surgery office
  10. Other: 4 year member of the club softball team: was on leadership for 2 years, part-time job working at info desk at school for 1.5 years

KCU, DMU, Western-Pomona, WVSOM if you want to stay in state, MSU, CCOM
Do you think MSU would still be a good idea even though I would be out of state? I'm definitely interested in the school but I have no ties to Michigan.

They do have an in-state bias, but strong applicants usually get interviews. Watch out for that 88k OOS tuition though.

The 5 most established/original DO schools:
ATSU-KCOM
DMUCOM
PCOM-PA
MWU-CCOM
KCU-COM

The next most established one after these is MSUCOM.

I’d apply to Campbell bc they give scholarships to high stat applicants like yourself. You’ll prob get in MD

CCOM, PCOM-PA, VCOM (VA or SC), MSUCOM ($$$), NYITCOM

For what it's worth I'm applying to Western-CA (near me), PCOM, DMUCOM, and KCUCOM because the last three have pretty great match lists. Lots of large academic centers and sub-specialties.
