Do secondary applications require new letters of recommendation in addition to the letters already on the primary application (AMCAS)?

I hear everyone talking about quick turn around on secondary applications but my experience with letter writers has been that nothing is quick...

Some people had all their letters in by June. Others have committees who aren't done till August/September or that one procrastinating PI who won't have it in until October. Just control what you can and get your secondaries back on a timely basis (but do your best job of course). However, you aren't complete at a school until your secondary application and all LOR's have been received and processed.

So certain schools do require more letters of recommendation be included with the secondary application?

I already have all my letters in for the AMCAS application (I have all the letters I wanted to send). AMCAS has received all my letters of recommendation (three professors and one physician, plus the premed advisors letter).

I was wondering if the schools might ask me for additional letters once they see the primary (AMCAS) application?

No. Letters of recommendation are NOT a part of your primary app. AMCAS only serves as a letter forwarding service. Letters are a part of your secondary applications. There are no "extra" letters required.
