DO Shadow Website

"Find a DO" on AOA. Most DOs will be more than happy to let you shadow.

What I'd do is research your top choice school, and look up its faculty. Chances are that you will find a clinical faculty member that has his or her own practice that you can shadow. Doing so will serve two purposes: 1. You can establish an early relationship with the school 2. It will look favorably towards you when you apply to that school (school likes to get letters from its own faculty). Good luck!

I used the AOA "Find a DO" link to look up DO's in my area within a certain speciality. I sent them all letters about shadowing them and recieved responses from none. You really have to network through family, friends, and physicians to get in contact with one. I ended up having to locate a new PCP who was a DO, scheduling an office visit and then asking him if I could shadow.

don't cound on AOA...chances are you will wait like me 6 months with absolutely nothing happening and your emails being ignored.
Go on the webs of all the university associated hospitals in the area. Most of the time there will be some faculty with an email adress next to their name.
That is how i found my DO.
I have been shadowing him for over 8 months now so it deffinetly works if you will put some effort into it.
:luck:

I found the best route to get in for shadowing was to call the office of the DO I wished to shadow and speak with his/her office manager, most know each physicians personal policy on shadowing, and the managers are the main schedule makers for lots of offices and clinics. That was what worked for me.

This was also my methodology.
