Can anyone give me a quick yes or no answer to my following question? If yes, how many programs should I apply to.

With the following credentials, am I competitive for an allopathic ER Residency Program at one of the midwest Medical Centers (ie. IU, OSU, UofC, Northwestern, U of M, etc...)

Degrees: DO, MBA, MS, BS
USMLE: 230
COMLEX 550
GPA 3.6
Class Rank: 34/244
Several Scholarships/Honors
Some Research
Lots of Comm. Service
Easy Going Personality

Thanks for any help. I would really like to here from current residents, especially.

Yes.
25-50 You decide how confident you are. Remember its pretty cheap up until 30.
PS. You didn't include the most important stat: Grade on EM rotation at one of the aforementioned residency programs.

Audition rotations are HUGE at IU and U of M...
Who are your letters from, would the interviewers know them?
DO you really want to go to these programs because you like them or because they are big names in EM? Keep your options open for lesser known programs.

Agree with DW...

Don't apply only to those programs because you "hear they are the big names." There are TONS of other great programs out there that aren't University of X."

DO applicants are as competitive as their MD counterparts.

Which means you have to be a good applicant!

Apply to as many programs as is financially prudent. Limit the interviews after you get them... dont' sell yourself short!

Q, DO
