Do they assign interview dates or you get to pick?

I'm wondering, cause I have to set my work schedule soon and was thinking if I should leave certain days open so I can go to interviews without missing work too often.

at most schools they let you call them and schedule it. they typically have 2 or 3 days per week that they use for interviews which vary depending on the school.

Dont do that, just take the days off. You may get offered a tuesday in january or a thursday in november, you never know when it will be. Don't lose the work time, just tell your boss you have interviews and that you will occassionally need time off to go to them.

But if you want to take off a few days for the year...all of my interviews were on a thursday or friday i believe.

I've seen both...but in most cases you can call and reschedule if you don't like the one they gave you.

Schools run it differently. Some schedule it and you can reschedule if you have to (though it doesn't always look great.) I think most schools let you schedule when you want it though. About Thurs and Fridays... My interviews were on Mon and Tuesday and I found that most schools that I was involved with don't schedule Friday interviews.

It's best to play it by ear in my opinion for taking days off. There is about an 8 month period that you can get interview offers. That seems like a lot of pointless planning. What if you don't get an interview until Feb?
