Crappy GPA right now. I have been told to appl early regardless even if my DAT wont be in August. Can a school reject you without your DAT score or do they send a letter saying they have gotten it but that they will put my app as unfinished? Thanks

What is a crappy gpa? Under a 3.0?

I still say apply early. Most schools wont even look at your app until it is done. But, the longer you wait, the more competition they have to compare you to.

When everyone says "apply early".. does that just mean "get your AADSAS application filled out and sent with your $$" ?

I'm planning on sending my transcripts to AADSAS in August, after my summer courses. If I fill out my application as soon as it comes out, and send it to AADSAS with the money, will my application still be considered "early", if i wait to send out my transcipts in August ?

hmmmm..

It won't be the earliest batch of applications but it will still be early to average (since a lot more people will be applying early as well). AADSAS will not send your application until they have received your transcript so that will mean your application will be arriving in early-mid Sept.

Don't wait for your summer transcript..especially if your GPA/DAT are average or below average.

Unless you need the summer grades to help boost your gpa, submit your application and transcripts without those grades. As long as you have everything else in to AADSAS, your application will be considered complete once they have recieved your transcripts and sent out to your schools. If submit your application to AADSAS say in June, but you wait to send your transcripts until August, your application will sit at AADSAS until August.

Once the schools have your AADSAS application and DAT scores they will begin reviewing your application. If you are taking your DAT later in the summer and the schools already have your AADSAS application, your DAT scores will be the only thing they are waiting for and once you take the DAT the scores will be sent to all of your indicated schools, and again your application will be complete. Finally once you finish your summer classes your transcripts can be forwarded to your schools through AADSAS or you can send them directly to each school and they will be added to your application packet.

I have a 4.0 as of now and I don’t have a good feeling about the classes I am about to take in summer school (Biochem and a really hard 4000 chem lab), as far as making an A is concerned. Do I have to send my summer grades to the school later on, if I apply on May 16th? I wouldn’t mind it if the schools see those grades after they have made a decision on my acceptance similar to how they would see my fall and spring grades for next year. Is this possible?

it's not going to matter. chances are, you will make A's. and if not, what will your GPA slip to? a 3.94? 3.95?

even at the schools you are planning on applying to, you are well ahead of the curve.

i thought i was bad for worrying about grades...

If I were you I would send your transcripts off and submitt your AADSAS application as soon as it becomes available. With a 4.0 you are not gaining anything by waiting for your summer grades, if anything you would hurting yourself. Eventually you will have to send your official transcripts of all classes you have completed, but you could put that off until just before you start D-school.

Perfect example is me, I am starting school at Case this fall. I just got a letter from them saying that all new students must submit current transcripts before the start of school. I couldn't remember when I had last updated my transcripts at all of my schools so I called them. They said that the last transcripts they had recieved were from Nov. 2004, obviously no biggie.

Depending on how you do on your DAT, it may be beneficial to keep updating your transcripts at the schools you apply at, especially if you are a middle of the road applicant. It can be beneficial to send out new transcripts to all of your schools as you complete "recommended additional courses" off of their websites. Best of Luck!

Man you haven’t met anyone who worries more then I does. I think it’s built into my personality. I hope I start to relax once I get this damn application out.

you won't. All the 'worrier' types worry just for the sake of worrying. Even when there's nothing to worry about they'll make **** up to worry about. Get used to it 🙂 ... for life....

cowsgomoo your not Indian by any chance are you?

I thinks its probably a combination of genetics and culture for us Indians but most likely more of the culture that leads to us worrying so much about everything.

Personally I like to live my life by the two words printed on the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy cover - "DON'T PANIC!" And this carrys over to how I feel about dental school admissions second time around.

And in case you guys haven't seen that movie yet, if you've read the book like me and are a fan of Douglas Adams you'll love the movie. However I'm not sure if people who haven't read the book will understand what the hell is going on and why the robot is always so depressed.

Who do you send updated transcripts to after having already registered with AADSAS, AADSAS or the school you are applying to?

You can do either. The advantage of sending them through AADSAS it is that you only have to provide one copy of your transcripts and they will make copies and then send them to all of your schools, the downside is that it could take up to six weeks for them to make it to your schools. The advantge of sending them directly to your schools is that they get them in a couple of days, the downside is that you have to provide a copy for each school which could cost you a bit of money.
