The Dean at my school was very adamant not to use UWorld during the year to study for shelf exams. She insists on only using it at the end of the year to keep it fresh for Step 2 CK.

Is this what most of you did? Saved it until right before CK? In that case, what qbank did you use instead to study for shelves? Pretest keeps coming up...that good enough?

Use it all year! You're gonna need help preparing for the shelf and by the time it comes down to studying for CK, you're not gonna remember the questions/answers anyway.

I found UWorld pretty helpful during 3rd year, especially for internal medicine. I say go for it; it can't hurt.

I personally saved it for the end. While I did very well on my shelf exams without U World, I will say that I did recognize things when going through the questions that would have helped me on specific questions on the shelf exams. While I have yet to take Step 2, I probably would recommend getting the year-long subscription.

I used Uworld throughout the year. I started with Internal Medicine and the bulk of Uworld is IM. I recommending using it throughout the year.

What are people's thoughts on using a different QBank during the year, then using UW closer to Step 2?

Or is it better to just do UW ??

I used UWORLD throughout the year and it helped me kill all my shelves....my lowest was 79%, the rest were all >90, 3 were >95. I get step 2 back tomorrow, so we'll see.

I'd def recommend using UWORLD throughout the year. It helps on the shelf exams and, IMHO, getting all clinical honors is more important than step 2. Plus, if you learn the material for your rotations, you'll hopefully retain a bunch for part 2.

Solid advice. This seems to be everyone's recommendation. Thanks!

I used it through the year (my school actually gives us a subscription for the whole year).

I do feel that now that I reset after doing 80% of so throughout the year that I sometimes remember question answers but not all the concepts so I am not sure how accurate my practice sets are. I try to reason it through and answer what I would on the exam but sometimes I am like I just know it's "C".
