Just kidding.

Actually, now that the semester is nearly over, I was curious as to what some of the first year students thought about this first semester experience (one down, seven to go!).

Was it what you expected? Worse? Better?!? What was it you discovered about medical school that you didn't know before?

I wasn't expecting medical school to be this hard. Not the material, but the volume. I always assumed that when the time came I would just deal with the work involved, no problem. However, the reality of endless studying was an eye-opener.

I guess the one thing I discovered was that putting in tons of study time doesn't equate to great grades. You really do have to know HOW to study as opposed to just putting in the hours.

I did enjoy meeting a whole bunch of really smart, sometimes anal, but generally nice people. Granted, most of them are Okies, but I won't hold that against them. 😀

Overall the experience has been an incredible one, and one I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to have.

Any other thoughts?

Boy, you're on thin ice there, Fenrezz! 😉

A agree on the endless studying...I thought I'd be able to do well with less time committment. Also, I thought I'd be able to study at home so that I could be with my family more. Instead, I spend nearly all of my time here at school. 😱

I didn't think my smock would get so dirty in anatomy lab.

I guess that's why they call is "gross" anatomy!

Get it? "Gross" anatomy.

Nevermind. 🙄

No, the reason they call it "gross" is because of the inevitable flicking of oily clumps of fat into your mouth trying to dig into the leg to find some unforsaken nerve and whatnot.

What's even worse is when you decide to swallow it because you didn't get to eat lunch that day.

umm...
