Do you choke in front of certain attendings?

This is what I realized over the past 2 weeks.
The attending-in-chief thought I can't present and make diagnoses to save my life. The next day, he asked another attending (same seniority) to oversee me and work up a couple cases with me.
For some reason I felt much more comfortable with that attending. By the end of the day, he said, "I agree with your ____ and your ____. Your presentations were concise. yaddayaddayadda, strong work".
The attending-in-chief also warned me about certain a particularly strict attending but I am okay with that one as well.
I feel like there is this mental block with this chief that whenever I present, I feel he would stop me and try to pimp me on basic stuff I tend to forget whenever I'm under stress.......

How do you guys deal with stresses and keep your cool when facing certain attendings?

If this person is malicious, you can check his/her history in the program, he may ruin your career so get prepared to swap out at early stage before they take you through the whole green mile!

are you saying this might be the warning signs of them trying to terminate this resident? doesnt seem too bad to me.Not sure I would read so much into it.

I really doubt the OP will be fired over this. As long as other attendings perceive his/her work to be satisfactory, and s/he scores decently on monthly exams, s/he should be in good shape. As a resident, you're not going to please every attending.
 
Sometimes it can be used as a way to get you flustered and to undermine you, definitely. Is that what's happening here? Hard to say, only the writer can answer that. Maybe this is just a difficult person who likes to see you squirm. It is often true that you present perfectly for one person and then another person says your presentations are terrible and they rip through them piece by piece.

Listen to your instincts and try and judge the situation as best you can. If this is just one difficult person, try and learn as much as you can from them and their criticism - deserved or not - and do not allow them to fluster you. Stay cool and if they get riled up just be detached and let it go. Learn as much as you can and if they truly are difficult just let it be their issue and not yours. Smile, let it go and move on.
 
I'm at a hardcore academic program, and there are certain attendings here too that like to crank the pressure on the interns. In many cases, it's their way of trying to "help" you think and act like a doctor rather than like a medical student. So I suggest that you deal with this feeling of being squashed by approaching that chief at the beginning of your workday and saying something to the effect of, "I'm trying to work on improving my presentations. Would you mind listening to me present today and giving me feedback on some specific things I can do to improve?" That is a proactive approach rather than a reactive one, and it also forces you focus on your presentations rather than on your feelings. If he pimps you and you don't know about that topic, tell him you don't know but you are going to read about it when you get home that night. (Make sure you follow through.) Again, that's you being proactive. No one expects your presentations to be perfect or your knowledge to reach omniscience, but you should show the chief that you are actively working to improve.

This is a hilariously overblown response. A good gimmick for you might be to post this response in multiple threads. Examples to follow:

My program made us do health risk assessment which asked questions like how many times a week you do high intensity and moderate intensity activities that last at least 10 min at a time.
