I don't know if this is a dumb question or not, but is it acceptable to send an e-mail asking about your application status? I applied to 8 schools. I have interviews at PCO and MCPHS, I got waitlisted at 3 until I re-take my OAT in early February, and one waitlisted me until December so my grades can come in from the two classes I am taking. I am still waiting on 2 schools, and my app was sent a month ago. I haven't heard SQUAT from them since that day. Please help! Thanks!

I would email them just to verify your application was received, never hurts! Im terrible at waiting myself and its driving me crazy!!

If you're really curious, pick up the phone. Emailing is such a passive way and might even be ignored.
Agreed - you'll get your answer much faster and it shows the school you're interested in their program.

I have mine December 10th! Had to work around pco interview!

Say that you are applying to optometry and that your OptomCAS application was mailed x months/weeks ago so you are wondering what the status of your application is

If it was mailed like only a week ago, give them time. If it was mailed a month or so ago, just call them and say that you are interested in knowing more about the status of your application. Also check your e-mail and see if you missed anything. Where I applied, the admissions office was all extremely courteous and I am sure this is more the rule than the exception. They won't bite- I promise!

PCO November 19th, coming up! Super excited honestly! Im going to give the 2 schools until like Wednesday then call and say that I wanted to make sure everything was okay with my app and they arent missing any parts, then kind of ease into a timeframe!

Awesome! Good luck steviey2493! My interview is on Dec. 2nd, could you let me know how it goes after your interview? And any tips/advice you could give me afterwards? 😉 That would be so much appreciated! Let me know when you hear back about your acceptance too 😀

Ill absolutely PM you after it...thanks for the best wishes!

Interview at PCO went really well montron! The staff there is really nice, tour guides love the place. My interviewer loved me, I'm happy with it. Shared a few laughs even, and she lived to hear that an alumni wrote me a LOR. At the end she told me I didn't look or act nervous unlike half of the people she gets. The dean asked us each one question in a group. Then we were called in individually, closed file to get to know you. Open file part was next and much shorter. Good luck!!!

I honestly didn't do much prep for the interview. Some may say that's bad advice, but I don't view it as a test. You are talking to another human like you and me. I pretty much played out questions in my head, what are your strengths, why our school, why optonetry, explain bad grades, anything good/bad about the profession! If you need to write notes and study them then go for it! But be yourself, they want a friendly dedicated person compared to a brainiac reciting answers, because you need great people skills for this job!
