Okay, so I am going to be honest here. I was a member of this club in school for about a year. Besides regular meetings that the club held, they also had these very important discussion sessions where all the major decisions were made. Now obviously i went to a couple of meetings and was an active member througout the year, but to these discussion sessions, i only attended one. Is it safe to say on my descriptions of this club that

"I went to discussion sessionS" or do they actually check up on ur clubs? Because saying i only went to one, altho important, doesnt really sound good....

any ideas from fellow shady people out there? haha jk

Let me put it this way: are there consequences for lying on your apps? Yea. Are the chances you getting caught in a lie good? No.

The medical community is a small one with a good and long memory. Basically, don't lie now, it can come back and bite you in the ass later.

If you were actually IN the club, then just put hrs/week or hrs/month and be honest... some clubs only meek bi weekly or monthly, so some of my clubs were only like 1 hr or 3 hrs/month, and that's what I put.

I wouldn't lie about it though, I don't think it would make a huge difference in the end, and hopefully you have other ECs that are more significant, such that this one won't make much of a difference.

it is a bad idea to lie on your application! don't do it!

I did not put down any club, but i did have other ex activities

Well put without lying. 👍

Well let's put it this way:

Is the EXTENT of your participation in this club going to make or break your application? NO.

Should you "fib" to make yourself look better in order to make your participation in this MINIMAL part of your application look more profound than it actually was? IF IT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU TO LIE IN ORDER TO MAKE YOURSELF LOOK GOOD, THEN WHY NOT WRITE THAT YOUR CLUB PERFORMED NEUROSURGERY ON WEEKENDS? Fibbing to make yourself look good is flirting with out-and-out lying. If you're willing to fib in order to get into medical school, think about the profundity of lies you'll be willing to "overlook" in order to keep your medical license when it comes out that you've missed something vital and a patient dies.

In short, if you don't have a problem being a liar, then by all means do what you want. Medicine isn't an enterprise that's founded much on honesty anyway.

Whats going to happen when you have to explain a medical condition to a patient? Are you going to use more ******ed ass analogies?

They prolly would not know if you lied. I doubt they check things that close with all the apps they get but I wouldn't lie. You were involved in this club that is enough.

I agree. You shouldn't lie on your application. Just put down that you went to the discussion session. I doubt they'll bring it up.

My whole application was one big ball of lies, a house of cards intricily held together with bullsh*t.

Just honestly put down what you did. This is probably not going to make or break your application. Don't tell a bold faced lie. One of the school i interviewed at does a blind interview, where the interviewers don't see your stats, only a curriculum vitae. We had some lengthly discussion about some activities i was apart of. If i had lied, i would looked like an idiot.

if you're gonna be "honest" here, be honest on your app, to the adcom, and most importantly... to yourself. really there shouldn't be any question. just be honest about what you did or didn't do.

are you gonna be honest only some of the time with your patients, etc.???

that's just my opinion, i could be wrong
