Do you have any free time/breaks during the summer after your 3rd year?

I am right now going into my senior year in college/applying and, assuming I will get in, I have one concern right now... the 2014 world cup. I have been planning to go to Brazil for the 2014 world cup for some time now and I am hoping that dental school will not get in the way. Can you guys please tell me if your dental schools gave you any breaks in the june - early july time period after your third year? Alternatively, is it possible to ask for 2-3 weeks vacation time and make up the coursework when I get back? Lastly, do dental schools offer summer study abroad programs (I could then go to Brazil for that, I'll learn Portuguese if necessary).

I know that some of you will think I'm stupid for caring so much about going to this world cup but I don't care, please just answer my questions.

Wait for the world cup 4 years after. At my institution the breaks have been decreased. Many schools have been increasing clinic to increase revenue at state institutions. Your first worry should be dental school 🙂 If you miss that much school, it may put a slight damper on graduation requirements and if you have any exams...

work hard during your third year to fulfill your graduation requirements. then take time off if your schedule allows it. we need 270 points to graduate and one of my friends who just started fourth year already has around 225 (keep in mind, this is pretty rare). my school also has rotations during third and fourth year but they really pile up fourth year...but people trade them around to make time to see patients. if you manage your time wisely you may be able to pull it off.

like DrReo said, dental school should be the main concern and you should focus on graduating but if you're like my friend who only needs 45 more points to graduate and has the whole year to get them in you may be fine.
