I want to apply to osteopathic schools next cycle and have already graduated without 6 credits in behavioral classes. A few schools I want to apply to (Lecom) require 6 credits in behavioral classes and I know I can put this on the aacomas application as planned/in progress.

My thought is if I get accepted to lecom before December then I can take them in the spring of 2013 before matriculating. If I get into a school which doesn't require humanities then I won't, but will this be a problem since I put planned on aacomas. Really I only plan to take these classes if I get accepted to a school that requires them since I'm working full-time, etc.

It's something you'll have to discuss with the school(s) you get accepted to. You may be expected to complete the courses you put as planned/in progress.

Thanks. What if I just apply to lecom etc., without the 6 credits and if accepted, just take the courses then? Will I get screened out before the chance for an interview? (3.6 sci gpa/30mcat). This may be a school specific question, but with 15k in posts, you've probably seen it all.

Idk about LECOM, but Touro-NV does not send secondaries to people until they complete (or at least indicate classes as planned on AACOMAS) all pre-reqs. I made a mistake with my AACOMAS and didn't put Physics 2 in coursework and Touro-NV sent me an email telling me I was deficient and therefore would not receive a secondary.

Wow, harsh. I'll have to triple check my app.

Oh god. DO schools are becoming like PA schools with all the random requirements that vary by school. Will lecom take religion, or geography for behavioral sciences? I have psychology but not the others.

If/when you are accepted to a med school, whether allo or osteo, you will receive a personalized acceptance offer that you must sign. It will list all the conditions you must meet before matriculation including any outstanding school specific pre-requisites.

At this point you will not care of AACOMAS recommendation. You must fulfill school's demands.

As to the moanings about varying requirements -- allo schools have multiple varying requirements, as do osteos and PA.

And you need to call a school if you want to know whether theology/geography wil apply to behavioural science.

None of the 4 acceptances I received were personalized 🙁 They all just made me sign the technical standards form.

Actually, I just looked at my AACOMAS transcript. I have two psych classes"

Intro to psychology, psy 101
Statistics of the behavioral sciences psy 360

Both of these all labeled as psychology on my transcript although 1 was technically stats for psych. But it's 6 hours of behavioral sciences. The schools that require 6 hrs of behavioral science just are not worth the hassel of taking the1 class--- lecom's, touro's, rvu, michigan, and ohio.

I had to take 8 credits of behavioral sciences just to complete my major/BA. I guess not all schools have such requirements 😕

If it's not a prereq for either the school or your degree then it is likely that the school won't care if you drop it after you're accepted.

I dropped a certain non-required, non-degree course after getting into AZCOM and after they told me it was cool.

You should email them and get it in writing before dropping anything, though.

Its just that I have "other" humanities classes religion, history 101 and 102, geography, lit, music appreciation👎. My degree gave me the option to take either geography or sociology or anthropology. Probably should have taken sociology just to be safe.
