So I have a bet with my friend and it involves me taking the LSAT. Do I have to let medical schools know? Because I for sure don't want it to ruin any chances of getting in.

No. Same applies to gre, dat, pcat etc so don't worry. Why are you taking the lsat anyways?

She bet me $500 that I would not beat her score and that it was "as hard as the MCAT".

Lol typical. No medical student goes around trying to convince people that the mcat is harder than the gre or whatever

No one should need convincing that the mcat is harder than the gre.
Yeah well she also thinks the Pharmacy test is just as hard too just because her friend is in pharm school. But hey, I won't pass up $500.

Be careful, it is a very different test still. I've heard on the ethics section you actually get a higher score if you choose the actions that are sleazy and immoral
Haha, it sounds like an interesting test to take. The logic questions seem fun.

I agree with notacop. While the lsat may be overall easier, they test very different skills so be careful!

Thanks, I will. I don't think her score will be too hard to beat.

If you're making $500, then how much will taking the test cost you?!

No, don't mention it. If you're prepping for it, it sounds like a big waste of time and $500 isn't that much money in the grand scheme of things.

I did better on the MCAT than the GRE, sort of (they test very different things), but I didn't study for the GRE or take any practice tests.

Scored 99th percentile on the pharmacy test with minimal studying, maybe one or two weeks. Did not score 99th percentile on the mcat after 3 months of study

My dad wanted me to go to law school. I didn't want to but he said he would pay me $1000 just to take it and see what I got. I didn't want to pass up $1000 so I studied full time for a week (~40 hrs), took it and got a 173 which is top 1%. It is sort of a joke. The score didn't convince me to apply for law school like dad had hoped.

Low-mid 160s I believe.
Based on how you were talking I thought she got in the 150s... If she got got in the mid 160s say 165 then that's a top score it's in the top 10% of test takers and is in the middle 50% of students admitted at top 10 law schools. That's going to be hard to beat! Take a practice test.

Oh ****, okay! I did not know that. I'm pretty clueless. It all just started from me saying it sounded like a fun test lol.

165 is solid enough for bottom half of the top law schools. So like Michigan, UVA, Penn, Cal, Duke, Cornell. Unless you're a natural at reading/analyzing like Lulu (which she is if 1 week turned into a 173), you've got some work to do. They are Rey different skills. Most premeds who do ok on the MCAT would also only do ok (if not worse) on the LSAT because their reading speeds are not up to par.

Still a waste of time. Call off the bet unless you wanna date this chick or something

Lol the lsat is closer to the sat than to the mcat
The mcat tests "content" whereas the last tests reasoning skills.
What did you get on your sat or mcat verbal section?

The MCAT tests much more reasoning than content. There's a reason why content problems nets people <30s, not <36s. Sure, the new MCAT has more content, but even more reasoning as well.

I'm not quite sure if the scored in the 160s if that is the case. She had a high GPA, but said her LSAT is what kept her from applying to good schools. The one and only she applied to wasn't so great either.

I did something similar with my wife (now a lawyer). Comparatively, she did better than me combining MCAT + LSAT. Given that she hadn't taken orgo at all and had taken intro physics because I made her, I was impressed. I also found the LSAT to be harder than the MCAT. *shrug*

I agree that the mcat tests reasoning as well but there's a lot of content that you need to know its not "just" reasoning skills whereas the lsat doesn't test content it's all reasoning skills.

Well you better find out what she scored if she scored in the 150-155 you have a good shot at it but if she got a 165 there's very little chance you'll beat her with no or even with minimal studying.

I dont think the lsat is easier. I took the mcat(without taking biochem, and taking sociology and psychology years ago) and scored in virtually the same percentile on both tests. The lsat doesnt require outside knowledge, but it requires deeper thinking imo. Also CARS is a joke compared to reading comp on the lsat.

I think some secondaries ask about other tests you have taken (if i recall correctly I think maybe UMKC?)

Ok guys time to stop the circlejerk of comparing MCAT and LSAT difficulty. They test different skills for different professions. People are different. Thus, people find different things to be harder or easier in their lives. Consequently, people make decisions and move on with their lives accordingly.

OP –if you still care to, find out her damn score. Don't you need to know anyway if your goal is to beat it? Either way, like I said, unless you plan on getting with this chick or her sister or something, this exercise is dumb and a waste of your time.
