I wanted to apply to dental schools in india and in london and i was wondering if you need to take the DAT to get in over there as well? I am a senior in college and I want to be a dentist but I dont think going to school in the US is the best option for me. Any help guys?

Maybe try contacting the schools that you are interested in? That's your best place to start.

I know you have to take the CET entrance exam in India... But like the earlier poster said, call them and ask the schools for the exact requirements.

I dunno, its different in different countries, but a lot of dental programs abroad take high school students straight out of high school and start training them then. I know a couple of ppl that got their DDS overseas and then came to the US and thats how it was for them. So I would just contact the different schools that you can find and tell them your interested and ask about it.

Keep in mind that if you get your dental degree overseas but want to practice in the US, you will have to complete an advanced standing type program at a US dental school to obtain your DDS or DMD so that you can apply to take the boards and be licensed in the US. Foreign degrees don't allow you to practice in the United States.

Yep. This will put you back 2-3 years, and 2 years of dental tuition as well, + fees to take boards etc. I think this is because many countries give you a BDS (Bachelors of Dental Surgery), and in the US you can only practice with a doctorate. I could be wrong..
