Dear friends,
I am currently working on personal statement- could have it done by the weekend. My transcripts have been received by AMCAS but two of my letters are still being written.

Stats:
Graduated magna from UC Davis in animal science
cGPA: 3.78
sGPA: 3.79
Huge upward trend. Started with 1.7 and subject to dismissal.
MCAT: 522

Clinical Hours: >1000 as medical assistant
40 hours shadowing ER and Gastro
40 hours volunteering clinical
Research Experience (Clinical): First author on a case series, and coauthor on a case report under review

If I submit the AMCAS this week, do I get secondaries immediately or does AMCAS have to verify the transcripts first? What are your thoughts about applying this late in the cycle?

Thanks for the advice!

You might get a couple of secondaries from schools that automatically send them when you submit your primary. But most wait until you are verified. It looks like it is currently taking a calendar month for verification so since you haven’t even submitted your primary, it will most likely be well into September when you are verified(unless they speed it up somehow). When verified your primary is transmitted to the schools and they join hundreds if not thousands of other applications. Some schools will send secondaries out when they receive the primary without reviewing your application. So you will be late by the time you are complete anywhere. You would probably be better off if you wait a year and submit on day one next year.
