Do you think people on SDN lie about their DAT scores?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I guess everything is possible. But whether they lie or not, it doesn't make ANY difference to us. They are the ones sitting down spending 5 minutes of their life typing a lie

I don't think there's a lot of lying per se.... but you can be sure that the people who make their scores known are most likely people who did pretty well. People who do badly don't normally shout it out to the rooftops. In that sense, SDN doesn't give you an accurate sample of DAT scores.

Good point. That does give you a different impression.

On top of that, scores posted recently are all from keener students who are on top of everything. If you come check out the scores in August-November, you'll see more of the procrastinator scores 😀

yeah seems like ppl have been posting really high scores. I think someone earlier caught someone potentially cheating cause they didn't have a followup. O well just curious.

I think it is definitely a possibility for some people, but I doubt it for the majority. If it is a first time poster, be weary, but if it is someone that is pretty consistent with posts you can generally assume they are telling the truth. That said, don't take SDN as a sample of DAT scores. Most people here score at least 2 points above the average i would say

Maybe just one or two points higher. But for the most part, I believe most are honest.

What can you gain from lying anyways?

However, I think the most honest people are those that say I got 25+ on everything except 10 on QR what should I do????

😛

I used to be skeptical a little skeptical about people's DAT scores on here.

Then I went and took the test myself and ended up with unbelievable scores, which I immediately posted on SDN afterwards. Now I am a believer that its possible to get high scores with enough dedication.

Furthermore, I would not have posted my scores had I done mediocre, therefore, this goes to show that scores results on SDN are definitely skewed.

i don't think people lie about their scores. I mean what for? where is the motive? haha

However, this site is like a good example of genetic drift -
those who post here are not an accurate representation of the whole population and display decreased variability and lack traits normally seen in the original population, aka low scores.

Hahahaha!!

I am sure that everyone on this website has come across that same thought at one point or another, how can you not?

The way I see it, some people look at this "phase" as a competition against one another and others see it as an opportunity to help each other out as a group working toward a common goal. Surely there are some bad apples out there who will do what ever they can (large or small) to get ahead, but theres nothing that can be done about that.

This website provides a ton of awesome information regarding the exact questions we as applicants have. Thats why I am on it all the time, and so are you!!! Hahaha!

I have thought about this and concluded that it dosent matter if people lie or not, just so long as they don't give bad advice. So... Take from it what you can, but make sure that the information here only improves you and does not discourage you. If someone busts out a redak score, that only means that it is possible and that any of us can!! Hopefully they provide a breakdown so people can improve, but other than that, high scores open doors for everyone to achieve.

I have not taken my exam yet, but I will soon and I look forward to giving back to this forum.

Just my 2 cents.

well its hard to give people bad advice on these forms. If you give bad advice, other members will jump on you and start debating with you.

If you don't get at least a 27/32/29 you're probably not meant for dental school. And did you know black sharpies are excellent for removing stains?

Yes I think people on SDN lie about their scores.

If you look on predents some people just put 0 or leave a score blank too. I bet the people who lie on SDN are the ones who got a 15, 16, 17 in one section, but do not want to admit it. I would guess that those with 22+ do not lie about their scores since getting in the 99.9th percentile is not much more impressive than getting in the 99.8%.
