When I graduate I will have 312 quarter credit hours from my home college and from credits I took while in high school, with a cum gpa of 3.85. Do you think the number of credits I have will make any difference?

no it wont.
tho the credits you got in high school is whatever....they dont even count those or really care about those anyway.

i graduated with 200 units at Cal, but was told that I was forced to graduate in 8 semesters as i approached that number....to prevent people from staying in school forever i suppose....(or unless i was gonna do multiple majors...)

can i ask how you got to take that many units? or is your school more lenient on that...

Thats alot of quarter hrs!! Did you take 20 hrs/qtr consistantly or just come in with alot from h.s.?

I think adcoms might not notice the sum of all your credits, but the fact that you took so many indicate you took many classes. They will probably notice the depth/breadth of these classes, and that might help you indirectly, but the numerical value is likely of little importance.

Thats exactly right. 20 credits per quarter for 12 quarters(uncluding all summers) and the credits from high school. I was a triple major in statistics, economics, and english so completing those requirements AS well as my premed classes. My school does have a limit, but you can petition and its pretty easy to do. I also took some classes at a local community college at night since it was near my house, so that also increased the number.

but those are quarter hours...

Proud owner of 2,009,398 semester hours.

I don't think it matters. I have almost 180 SEMESTER hours and as far as I can tell, it doesn't mean squat to adcoms. And yes, I did take 20+ credits each semester, except MCAT semester (Spring of junior year). Just make sure to do well in the classes you take: quality, not quantity.

I haven't applied yet, but I was looking at the amcas application and I think that they ask u to include all college courses you have ever taken, including classes u may have taken in High School. But do they factor these courses into ur GPA?
