I'm considering what classes to take for next semester, and i'm signed up for an ethnic studies class (ethnic studies 100 at UCB) thats title is "Comparative Ethnic Literature in America". since it's a literature class i figure it will count towards the english/lit/writing requirement, but i'm worried about the fact that it is listed under ethnic studies. Will this work?

If it is listed under ethnic studies then probably not an English, but it is probably still a humanities class.

If you have already taken English 101 (which is required by most), I advise taking an Argument and Persuasion English class. It has been one of the most useful classes I have taken yet in my college career.

The way I see it, literature=English class (unless it's a foreign language lit class of course). I wish med schools all saw it my way.

I think it's probably ok...most say writing-intensive humanities classes count for comp even if they're not technically English. But I'll do the requisite "call and ask if you've got a particular school in question" advice.

to save yourself a ton of hassle during the application process, take classes what are through the "english" department for fulfilling the english requirement that most schools have
