Depends on the course name - what is it called on the transcript?
Was it something like FYS 1001: First Year Studies Seminar
or FYS 1001: Planetary Science and Discovery
etc

It is very similar to the latter.

Then yes, it'll count for science gpa. They primarily go by the course name.
