For those of you in "crunch time" right now (finals, MCAT, looming AMCAS) do you do any BS-ing during the day?

Do you work out? Do you ever sit around and read for fun or watch a movie? How often?

Sometimes it seems like other pre-meds have time for all of these things and are STILL ahead of the game with studying, etc.. I just wondered what your typical day is like.

I go to the gym every other day for 1-2 hours (depends on what I'm doing that day), and I try to run about as often. I've also started doing push-ups in my room, whenever I have a few minutes here or there.

Especially this past year, I've been making an effort to do all the things I like; reading for pleasure (try to fit it in between lab/classes/etc), getting out and hiking, playing guitar. Every night I watch an hour of TV while eating dinner (kill two birds with one stone).

I'd be lying if I said my studying hasn't taken a hit. I've been doing more last minute studying, but I'm happier this way and would never go back!

srsly?

If you don't have time to workout, read, watch movies and all sorts of other stuff while in undergrad or applying you are doing something wrong.

i don't study much for "crunch time"

if you have been studying regularly all year, no need to cram for the finals

😎 just a couple hours a day should do it

Thanks for noticing. 😉

If you mean sitting on my ass, then yes.

First of all working out isn't BSing - it is important to your overall well-being, and I think relaxes me to make studying more efficient. Same for settling in to watch a movie, or have a couple drinks once every week or two. Even during finals, you need to take a little time for yourself to keep you sane. And yes in addition to class I work 2 to 3 jobs at a time and do research.

If you need to be studying every waking moment, you could probably streamline your studying process.
