most of the people you meet in medicine are challenged. And I say that in the nicest, most diplomatic way possible.

why does the medical profession get sued? well...i'll tell ya...


we get sued cuz we don't give a f***....and pt's know this...it doesn't take a genius..

and i know ya'll have heard this a million times, but let me ask you this....you learn after a while to not care...to take it all as it comes...to not feel...and VOILA!!!! OHMYGOD aren't we amazed that we all stop giving a rotten S$it?!?!??!?!?!??!?!??!?

I think a lot of docs do care. You should not take those who don't give a **** to heart----that way you won't become one of those. Be the change you so desire.

Hey! I'll stand up for Lil'. I think she is a she, too by the way.

I think I understand your frustrated, inarticulate rant. 🙂 Are you just now finishing third year? You are right on track. I agree that after a while alot of - at least academic - docs don't seem to give a **** about patients and seem to think of them as irritating time-suckers. By this, I mean internal medicine attendings mostly, plus a few scattered others including psychiatrists. I mean, plenty of psychiatrists I saw seemed to forget that there was an unhappy, depressed but human person in that patient's body.

Sounds like you need a break away from your hospital. Maybe with family and friends. Far away from the hospital so you can look back and remember why you did this. Plenty of people are interested in their patients, but sometimes the academic environment can just wear you down to a nub. Community docs are usually still pretty nice.
