Gap years are fun but also I feel like after work I get caught in a cycle of Netflix- does anyone have a good medical, public health, or social justice related documentary to suggest? I really enjoyed A Place at the Table, How to Survive a Plague, and Remote Area Medical

🙂 thanks

Inside Pediatrics is a great series you can find on YouTube. Has gotten me really excited about peds rotations.

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but I saw this posted a while back and enjoyed it. 30-minute video following a couple medical students at Loma Linda throughout their 4 years of school:

It's been a while, but I remember really enjoying Hopkins, Boston Med, and NY Med.

Also, not at all helpful, but Nurse Jackie has sucked me in.

On Amazon Prime:
The Illness and the Odyssey

For those of you in cold climates, it is a tropical vacation -- gone horribly wrong.

Not a documentary but a funny, and very jaded/cynical, view of long term care of the elderly: Getting On, available on HBO.

Dr. Jenna James kills me with her research studies and her sincerity about their importance.

Yes! NY Med is fantastic, and tragically short. There was a similar series done in the UK called "City Hospital" which ran for several hundred episodes, but I can't find it on Youtube or torrent sites.

I heard Freakonomics is a good documentary to watch on Netflix. I haven't watched it, but I've heard it's good. It's based on a popular book.

I second freakonomics. It is soooo good
Is it the same concept as the Freakonomics weekly podcast? You should listen to that too.

EDIT: Yup, it's the same people (Levitt and Dubner) that wrote the book who also do the podcast.
