I have been granted an interview at MCW and have the choice of dec 3rd or jan 6th. I have already interviewed at a few places that are really nice and would prefer over MCW because of family and location. I am to hear back from these schools by Dec 15th.

Do you think a month will make a big difference?

I always think the earlier the better. Interviewing in December can not hurt! Who knows how competitive the applicant pool is this year. I wouldn't risk it. When was your application complete and are you from Wisconsin?

Being from Wisconsin shouldn't matter, since they don't give preference to Wisconsin residents at MCW.... However, OP, I say do it in January. No sense in spending the money on an interview at MCW if you've interviewed at several other places you'd prefer and have a good chance of getting in.

Actually, they do give preference to wisconsin residents albeit not as much as UW-Madison. At MCoW half of the spots are reserved for WI residents as compared to Madison where it is 70-80%.

While I agree that it can't hurt to go earlier... i can also understand that if it is not your first choice and you have already missed a lot of school for other interviews, you could postpone the trip until january in the hopes of getting one of your preferred offers and thus not having to pay for this trip.

probably the best thing is to consider how well poised you are to be admitted to one of your schools by the 15th and maybe also check with the post interview acceptance rates to assess your chances. good luck to you!

I spoke with the directory of admissions at MCW, and from what I understood January could potentially put you on a waitlist. They've been accepting since at least September (EDP). If MCW is an important interview to you, then go for it in December. I'll be there that day.

Those with interviews, when was your secondary application complete?

thanks guys,

Yes..I am from Georgia and the cost of going to the interview was a factor. I think I will take the Dec spot

My file was complete mid august.

I think mine was complete late September. It took a bit longer, to contact me, apparently, because I had an 8 on one section of the MCAT. 8 on a section or lower sends your application to a "second review" where they think a little longer about interviewing you. This is what the director of admissions told me, anyway.

Thank you. I didn't think to ask if they weigh one aspect of your application more than another. Apparently verbal is important! You don't by chance know how much weight they put on GPA?

I don't have a clue, sorry. I hope they weigh if VERY heavily, then I'm in good shape 😉

Best wishes,
