Hi, I was just wondering if a new Step 2 First Aid book comes out every December like the Step 1 First Aid does. If so, does it really matter if you have the most recent one?

Thanks.

No, and no.

Cool, thanks. How often does a new Step 2 first aid come out, and is there any recommendation about using it as you go along 3rd year? Or... is that more of a Step 1 phenomenon?

Nice tagline! Are you Chinese?

First Aid is not the essential book for Step II that it has become for Step I.

I like it. I don't think it's particularly useful for rotations - not enough detail. Many people prefer Secrets or Boards & Wards. A few years ago, Crush Step II was the standard on this forum, but now it is not very popular. In my opinion it is a good book for passing, but a poor book for getting a high score.

In my opinion, 99% of Step II preparation is in studying for your shelf exams, and doing USMLEWorld. Comprehensive review books aren't that useful.

For Step 2CS, the First Aid book is perfect and completely sufficient.

I'm from Japan, the term is roughly Japanese Spirit, Western Skill. It's sort of a late 19th century slogan, but I thought it appropriate to my background.

Wow. First Aid isn't the standard for Step 2?? That's kinda surprising! Here I thought they were ideal for the steps.

Did you prefer Crush, Boards & Wards, or Secrets when you took step 2?

Hi, you said that 99% of step 2 prep is from studying for the shelf exams.... in general most people use books such as blueprints/casefiles/lange etc. during their clerkship and for the shelf.

I can imagine that there will not be enough time to review the material in those books in time for the step 2 and if the comprehensive review books are not good enough, then what is the best way to prep for the step 2? Thanks in advance.

I think UW and/or Kaplan Qbanks are the keys.
